Garden Village Indian Restaurant Doha is a hidden offbeat gem. This cozy and friendly place is one of the few in Doha that serves Banana-leaf-meal on the weekends. Furthermore it serves a large variety of North-indian, South-indian, Mangalorian and Tandoor style dishes. Despite its central location it is tucked in the back of a small commercial square and thus quite an off the beaten path restaurant.
Specialty indian dishes to try
The built-in juice bar serves freshly squeezed sugar cane juice among the regular juices. Ask for the custom-made Pomegranate-Sugarcane-Mango juice with lime and ginger. We called it “Traffic Light” and have inspired many others to try as well. Most waiters have good English language skills and will patiently explain every dish you are curious to try.
We have to mention the Special: Go there on fridays or saturdays for lunch and experience an authentic meal: Banana leaf! Instead of a plate, you will eat from a large clean banana leaf. One after another, different waiters will pass by your leaf and serve a spoon-full of around a dozen different sauces. Two different kinds of rice and papadam make the dish complete. Use your hands or ask for a spoon and explore through the different flavors. Some sauces are sweet, others sour, you will find spicy ones and finally creamy ones to balance it all out. Mix sauces or taste them one by one. Looking at the green leaf with all these colorful dots, you might feel like Picasso, about to start your Indian art project.
Tip: try to eat slowly if you are not used to Indian food.
Freshly cooked authentic indian dishes
Garden Village Restaurant has an impressive and slightly overwhelming menu, yet the dedicated chefs from different parts of india cook everything from scratch. Therefore You will find authentic versions of classics like Curries, Biryani, Paneer, Dhal, and a large variety of fresh breads. If you tell the waiters, they will adjust the spiciness levels exactly to your preference and experience. Therefore Garden Village Indian Restaurant Doha is a very good place to start exploring indian cuisine.

Best time to visit Garden Village Doha
During lunch time it gets crowded early. Thus, either go very early or slightly later than most people. Due to the late dinner time of indians you can avoid the crowds, if you go around 6’o clock pm. On the weekends we recommend to go for lunch and check out the banana-leaf meal.
